Event Description

Please join the Foreign Policy Association on Thursday, October 24th for the SUNY Global Engagement Lecture Series featuring José Rosemburg, Senior Liaison Officer and head of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) Liaison Office at the UN Headquarters in New York. Previously, he served as an Ambassador in the Ecuadorian DiplomaticService, earning the rank of Career Diplomat, holding positions at the UN in New York and at Ecuador’s embassies in Paris and Vienna.

Mr. Rosemberg has spent more than forty years in the field of international affairs and global governance since he began his journey at SUNY New Paltz, offering a valuable retrospective for SUNY students seeking a career in international affairs.

Event Speakers

    • Mr. José Rosemberg - Speaker
      Senior Liaison Officer of the CTBTO, Former Career Diplomat, SUNY New Paltz Graduate

      José Rosemburg has been the Senior Liaison Officer and head of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) Liaison Office at the UN Headquarters in New York since June 2017. In this role, he coordinates with the UN Secretariat, Permanent Missions, NGOs, academia, and civil society on disarmament efforts.

      Previously, he served as an Ambassador in the Ecuadorian diplomatic service, earning the rank of Career Diplomat, holding positions at the UN in New York and at Ecuador’s embassies in Paris and Vienna.

      He holds a Doctorate in International Sciences from Universidad Central del Ecuador, a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard, and has completed the Oxford Foreign Service Programme. He earned his Bachelor's in Political Science from SUNY New Paltz. Born in Esmeraldas, Ecuador, he is married to María-Cristina Sánchez, with two children, Juan Martín and Anabelle.
