    • Robert E. Rubin - Speaker
      Former U.S. Treasury Secretary

      Robert E. (Bob) Rubin served as the 70th Secretary of the U.S. Treasury from 1995 to 1999. He joined the Clinton Administration in 1993 as the first director of the National Economic Council.

      Rubin began his career in finance at Goldman, Sachs & Company in 1966, serving as co-senior partner and co-chairman from 1990 to 1992. From 1999 to 2009, he was a member of the board of directors at Citigroup and a senior advisor to the company. In 2010, he joined Centerview Partners as senior counselor.

      Rubin is co-chairman of the Council on Foreign Relations; serves as a member of the board of trustees of the Mount Sinai Health System; and is chairman of the board of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation. In June 2014, he completed a 12-year term as a member of the Harvard Corporation, and is now a member of its Finance Committee. He was one of the founders of The Hamilton Project at the Brookings Institution.

      Rubin is the author of “In An Uncertain World: Tough Choices from Wall Street to Washington,” which was a New York Times bestseller and was named one of Business Week’s ten best business books of the year. He graduated from Harvard summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in economics; he received a law degree from Yale, and attended the London School of Economics. He has received numerous honorary degrees.
