François Legault was sworn-in as Québec’s 32nd Premier on October 18, 2018. He was previously elected Member of the National Assembly for L’Assomption riding in the 2012 and 2014 general elections.

He began his career as an auditor and team leader at Ernst & Young in 1978 and was appointed director of finance and administration at Nationair Canada in 1984. In 1985, Mr. Legault became marketing director for Quebecair. A year later, he cofounded Air Transat, Canada’s leading leisure airline, and served as its CEO until 1997.

Mr. Legault went into politics in 1998 and held several important offices in the Government of Québec, including Minister of Education and Minister of Health and Social Services.

On November 14, 2011, he founded and led a new party, Coalition Avenir Québec.

Mr. Legault holds a bachelor of business administration and a master of business administration from HEC Montréal. He is a fellow of the Québec Order of chartered professional accountants.  He is married and has two children.
