Event Description

Please join the Foreign Policy Association in welcoming Timothy Geithner, President of Warburg Pincus, LLC, and 75th United States Secretary of the Treasury. Discussing his time in the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Secretary Geithner will focus on the financisl crises of the 1990s and 2008, as well as his role in the administration's response and the subsequent financial reforms. Timothy Geithner will be interviewed by Terrence J. Checki, Director of the FPA. this conversation will also draw from Secretary Geithner's recent book, Stress Test: Reflections on Financial Crises.

    • Timothy Geithner - Speaker
      President of Warburg Pincus, LLC, 75th United States Secretary of the Treasury

      Timothy Geithner serves as President of Warburg Pincus. In this role, he focuses on overall firm strategy and management, investing and portfolio management, organizational and funding structure, and investor relations. Mr. Geithner is a member of the firm’s Executive Management Group. Before joining Warburg Pincus, Mr. Geithner served as the 75th Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury from 2009 to 2013. He previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 2003 to 2009. He began his U.S. government career with the Treasury Department in 1988. Mr. Geithner holds a B.A. in government and Asian studies from Dartmouth College and an M.A. in international economics and East Asian studies from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
