George Cunningham, diplomat, author, explorer and Fellow of the Foreign Policy Association is a leading advocate for strengthening transatlantic relations in the face of today's world challenges. Previous to his current post, he served most recently as Counselor at the European Commission Representation in Nicosia, Cyprus and in New York as Head of Press and Public Affairs and Political Counselor for the EC delegation to the United Nations. He is also a former UN official.

A compelling story of personal discovery and inspiration, Cunningham's recent book, Journey to Become a Diplomat, is the engaging account of his travels in Africa and how this once-in-a-lifetime experience shaped his future as a diplomat. Recognizing international events have created a global society that demands a new type of diplomat, Cunningham also provides readers with practical know-how on planning a career in the diplomatic corps.
