Program Assistant Position

Hope Fellowship Program – National Albanian American Council

 

Job Description

The National Albanian American Council (NAAC) is seeking a Program Assistant to support the Hope Fellowship program staff in day-to-day activities and in the planning, designing and implementing program tasks related to building women’s leadership competencies in Kosovo.  The position is based in Washington, D.C.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to team;
  • Under supervision and direction, research or contribute to drafting reports, memos, program updates, work plans and newsletter articles;
  • Monitor program expenditures;
  • Provide administrative support for work plan formulation; take part in strategic and work plan discussions, and assist with work plan implementation;
  • Attend meetings to keep up to date on team, region, or partner-related developments;
  • Train interns on tasks;
  • Assist Hope Fellowship program staff with program monitoring;
  • Maintain a database of contacts in the region;
  • Organize logistics for Hope Fellows and staff travel;

Qualifications


Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in International Relations, Political Science or a related field;  
  • Previous administrative and/or programmatic experience, especially USAID, programs including internships;
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently on multi-tasks with little supervision;
  • High level of interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with all levels of staff, U.S. and foreign government personnel and the general public;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively present information, respond to questions and prepare written reports in a professional and timely manner;
  • Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team;
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs;
  • Good knowledge of basic budget and accounting procedures;
  • Interest in and knowledge of regional political environment and people;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • International experience preferred including working with Peace Corps or other international volunteer organizations;
  • Authorization to work in the US (non-US citizens must possess work authorization which does not require employer sponsorship for a visa).
