CSIS seeks a defense budgets, acquisition and industrial policy intern to support the defense-industrial initiatives program. The Defense-Industrial Initiatives Group (DIIG) focuses on issues related to the health and management of the global defense-industrial base. Key research areas include defense acquisition, governance and management of complex systems, and linkages among defense budgets, policies, programs, and the industrial base. Because of the fast paced work environment, interns should be motivated self starters that enjoy a wide variety of analytic and logistical task work.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with monitoring developments in the defense industry: defense budgets, programs, contracting, and acquisition
  • Assisting with ongoing projects examining defense-industrial base issues in both the national and international arena
  • Researching and authoring short publications
  • Spot and background research
  • Maintaining and updating program data (proficiency with Microsoft Excel and SQL databases highly desirable)
  • Assisting in event planning and staffing


Qualifications


  • Must hold bachelor's degree or higher (graduate degree preferred)
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited U.S. institution or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with quantitative analysis
  • Ability to work independently
  • Interest in defense and national security issues
