The Foreign Policy Association

(www.fpa.org)) is a nonprofit organization, based in New York City. Since 1918, the mission of the FPA has been to serve as a catalyst for developing awareness, understanding, and informed opinion on U.S. foreign policy and global issues

 

Great Decisions

(http://www.fpa.org/great_decisions/) is the heart of the FPAs outreach effort, was launched in 1954, and is the largest nonpartisan public education program on international affairs in the world with over 500,000 participants in the United States and abroad. There are currently twenty-eight Great Decisions groups in Arizona.

 

The Sedona Great Decisions Group

(http://www.fpa.org/great_decisions/index.cfm?act=gd_group&group_id=1618283) began in 1985 and is one of thousands of chapters of Great Decisions in the United States and abroad. Local membership is limited to approximately 40-45 due to logistical limitations. We have a wide range of members from those born in the Czech Republic, Egypt, the Philippines, India, Iran, Turkey, the U.S. and former employees of the United States foreign service, World Bank, U.S. Trade Representative’s Office as well as other professions. NOW ACCEPTING NEW MEMBERS.

Membership is by application only based on availability. The annual cost is $45 per calendar year. Booklets purchased from the FPA become available in January every year. For information- contact Charles Blum at [email protected].

 

Guests are welcome to attend free of charge and are asked to reserve their space in advance by leaving your name, phone number, and email address (optional) with Charlie Blum (301-717-4210).

 

Meetings are typically held at the Sedona Public Library, once a month, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, January through November. Topics during the later part of the year include domestic issues chosen by the members.

 

The first hour of the meeting typically focuses on the facts related to a specific topic. The second hour is typically reserved for discussion, questions and comments.

 

Each year 11 programs are presented.  Details are found in the Sedona Public Library's online calendar of events.
