Event Speakers

    • Kate Warren - Instructor
      Director of Global Recruitment, Devex

      With nearly a decade of international recruitment experience, Kate Warren is the Director of Global Recruitment Services at Devex- the leading provider of recruiting services to the international development community. She works with the human resources departments of the major donor agencies (like World Bank, United Nations, USAID), NGOs and consulting firms that make development happen. Prior to joining Devex, Ms. Warren was a recruitment officer for International Relief and Development- an NGO working in over 40 countries- and a deputy program manager and international recruiter for Checchi and Company, Consulting Inc -- a USAID consulting firm focused on institutional reform in developing and post-conflict countries. She previously recruited interpreters in more than 300 languages for US immigration courts and international conferences.

       

      With a pulse on hiring trends across the industry, and insider-knowledge on what it takes to break in, Ms. Warren is able to provide the practical information you need to get started or to advance your career in international development.

       

      Ms. Warren holds a bachelor's in Latin American studies from the University of Texas in Austin. She has lived in Argentina, Costa Rica and Mexico and speaks Spanish. She is a frequent speaker at seminars and contributor to articles on careers in international development.

    • Nana Gyesie - Guest Speaker
      Human Resources Officer, IFC, The World Bank

      Nana Gyesie is an HR Officer with the World Bank Group (IFC), where he is focused on workforce planning, strategic analytics and HR business partnering with the Advisory Services Team, with a project portfolio in over 100 countries.

       

      Prior to joining the World Bank, Mr. Gyesie was a manager on the HR team focused on Deloitte Consulting's Emerging Markets team. In that role, he managed recruitment and workforce planning efforts for projects funded by USAID, State Department, the World Bank, and other donor organizations. He also worked as a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. With his breadth of experience, Mr. Gyesie provides practical insights and options to navigating the competitive career landscape in the Washington, DC area.

      Mr. Gyesie earned a Master of Arts from Georgetown University and a Master of Arts in international management from the University of Maryland. A native of Ghana, he has made his home in the Washington, DC area for more than a decade.
