      Ambassador vanden Heuvel is an international lawyer and investment banker who has served as United States Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York and as Ambassador to the European office of the United Nations in Geneva.

       

      He was formerly Senior Partner and is currently Of Counsel to the law firm Stroock & Strook & Lavan. Ambassador vanden Heuvel is also a Senior Advisor to Allen & Company, an investment banking firm, and Chairman of Amromco Energy, LLC (Romania). In addition, Ambassador vanden Heuvel is Co-Chair of the Council of American Ambassadors and the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a Governor as well as the former Chairman of the United Nations Association.

       

      He is also Chairman of the American Friends of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of the Netherlands. He holds degrees from Cornell University and Cornell Law School, and Honorary Degrees from Hofstra University and Roosevelt University. Ambassador vanden Heuvel has been decorated by the governments of Austria, the Netherlands, and Thailand.
